Eagles vs Vikings NFC Championship Preview

January 20th, 2018 by Leo | Comments Off on Eagles vs Vikings NFC Championship Preview | Filed in Eagles, Football, General, NFL

In the beginning of the season, no one saw the Eagles actually going to the NFC Championship game, yes we in Philly say we are going to the SuperBowl every year but this time it may actually be true.  Once again the Eagles are in the Underdog position which personally I like, even if it’s undeserved, and I also think the Eagles will win this game too.  I believe there are a lot of factors in the Eagles favor and the teams matchup very similar in strengths and weaknesses.

First off, Home field advantage is huge and the fans can be a big factor in the game, second I think the weather will favor the Eagles as well since the Vikings are a dome team but there is no denying that they can handle cold weather as Minnesota is no picnic in the winter time.  Both teams are sporting relatively inexperienced QB’s in this type of game and both teams have an outstanding D, which of course is why both of them are there.  It’s the D or lack there of D that will decide the game and many look for it to be a low scoring game and a close matchup.  I myself am predicting an Eagles win with a score of 24-20 and an Eagles trip to the SuperBowl.

For the first time in 13 years, the Eagles will host the NFC Championship on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.  Just how unlikely is it for these two to square off at 6:40 p.m. ET on Sunday for the NFC title?  The last time a conference championship matchup featured two quarterbacks who weren’t their team’s respective Week 1 starter was at least 1970. The last time two quarterbacks with fewer than three games of playoff experience faced each other in the conference championship game was 2006.

Since Carson Wentz went down in week 14 with an ACL injury everyone has counted the Eagles out.  Yet the Eagles and Nick Foles managed to win home field advantage, tied in the NFL with the best record, and won the Divisional playoff game against the Falcons to make it this far.  No, Nick is not Carson but he is a competitor and has the ability to lead this team to a win.  Make no mistake this will have to be a team effort.

Here is a preview video from NJ.com on the game:

Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) at Dallas Cowboys (2-5); Game Preview

Oh boy, here we go again!    Seven weeks after the first meeting between these two teams, and they meet yet again….practically in identical positions. The Birds will walk into AT&T Stadium on  Sunday Night, with a 3-4 record.  They will once again wage war, with the 2-5 Dallas Cowboys.   The Eagles are coming off of a bye week, in which they had to reflect on a demoralizing loss to the Carolina Panthers.  Meanwhile, the Cowboys are riding a two game losing streak, having dropped games to the Seahawks and Giants.

This game couldn’t be more pivotal for either team, as it will essentially eliminate one of these teams from the NFC East divisional race.  The ‘Boys have dropped four of their last five games against the Eagles in Arlington, and are current owners of a five-game losing streak.  The Eagles fourteenth-ranked defense will look to take advantage of the Tony Romo-less Cowboys, and make it six-straight losses for Dallas.

Back in Black!    That’s right, Monday night’s divisional battle against the hated New York Giants will once again be a “Blackout”.   Last season, the Eagles opened up prime-time play against the Giants with a “Blackout”.   That game resulted in the Birds first shutout in 18 years.   The team out-gained the Giants by a rate of almost 2:1 in total yards.   They drove Eli Manning and Ryan Nassib to the turf, a combined 8 times.   Point blank, they completely and utterly dominated the game.   Now, I’m not saying this game will be a repeat of last season.  But, I truly believe that the black uniforms do something special to this team.  The Eagles are riding high, after coming off of a dominating win over the New Orleans Saints.

In that game, DeMarco Murray finally found his footing, tallying a total of 100+ yards from scrimmage and a touchdown.  The passing game really started to find its’ rythym, going for well over 300 yards.  The team should ride into this game, full of confidence and swagger.  On the other hand, so should the Giants.  They are the lone team atop the NFC East at 3-2, following a controversial come from behind win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.  Needless to say, this should be a good one.

Eagles dominate Saints 39-17, improve to 2-3 on the season

October 12th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Eagles dominate Saints 39-17, improve to 2-3 on the season | Filed in Eagles, Football, NFL

Fletcher Cox records one of his three sacks against Drew Brees.

The Eagles needed a win. They needed to have their best game of the season to avoid falling to 1-4, a record that would have all but likely eliminated them from the playoffs.

The Eagles didn’t only win, they dominated the New Orleans Saints on Sunday to win 39-17, improving to 2-3 on the season.

After a slow start once again by the Eagles offense, including two interceptions in the end zone by Sam Bradford, the offense finally seemed to hit a rhythm and take off. Sam Bradford had arguably his best game as an Eagles, completing 32-45 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns.

Bradford bounced back from his two early interceptions by hitting Josh Huff, who had his best game in the NFL, for a 41 yard touchdown early in the 2nd quarter. He would also throw another touchdown to Brent Celek with 6:31 to go in the 3rd quarter to extend the Eagles lead to 23-10.

Eagles pick up fifth-year option on Fletcher Cox

April 28th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Eagles pick up fifth-year option on Fletcher Cox | Filed in Eagles, Football, NFL

The Eagles have announced that the team has picked up the fifth-year option on defensive end Fletcher Cox.

Cox, the 12th pick in the 2012 draft, will earn $7.8 million in 2016, which is not guaranteed. Despite the recent trade rumorsthere is no denying that Cox is arguably the best player on the Eagles defense. Totaling seven tackles for loss, 14 hurries, three fumble recoveries, and 7o tackles, Cox was an outstanding player last season.

Even though the Eagles picked up the option that does not mean that they can’t trade Cox, a possible trade candidate come this weekend’s NFL Draft. On the flip-side, it also does not mean that the Eagles and Cox can’t work out a long-term contract extension either.

Report: Latest Eagles rumor has team trading Cox, Kendricks, and Bradford

April 24th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Report: Latest Eagles rumor has team trading Cox, Kendricks, and Bradford | Filed in Eagles, Football, NFL

Over the last three months the Eagles have been involved in every possible rumor that involves trading up for Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. However, over the last week the rumors have really picked up, and the general consensus is starting to become that the Eagles have a real shot of actually getting a deal done to land the former Oregon Duck.

Which rumors, if any, are true is always something that is so hard to determine. Some can be completely fake, while others can be smokescreens leaked by teams on purpose, while others might actually have some legitimacy to them.

The latest Eagles rumor seems like one of those rumors that is a long shot, but it is obviously worth reporting.

According to NJ.com’s Mark Eckel, there is a new rumor making it’s rounds around NFL personnel meetings that involves the Eagles trading Sam Bradford, Mychal Kendricks, and Fletcher Cox. Here is what Eckel wrote in his story:

“One rumor, making its rounds in NFL personnel meetings, has the Eagles dealing Bradford to the Browns for the 19th overall pick. It’s been widely reported that the Browns offered that 19th pick to the St. Louis Rams for Bradford before the Rams traded him to the Eagles for Nick Foles and a 2016 second-round pick. Despite reports that Bradford, in the final year of his contract, would not sign an extension with Cleveland, the Browns are said to still have interest.
