Report: Eagles shopping Mychal Kendricks

April 30th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Report: Eagles shopping Mychal Kendricks | Filed in Eagles, Football, NFL

For weeks the Eagles have been rumored for weeks to be shopping Mychal Kendricks. It is believed that the Eagles would include Kendricks in a trade to trade up for Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Jason La Canfora of CBSSports is now reporting that the Eagles are indeed shopping Kendricks:

The tweet of course is a bit odd because trading Kendricks for a second round pick takes Kendricks out of a potential deal for Mariota. However, La Confora brings answers that question with his next tweet:

Will the Eagles land Marcus Mariota?

April 27th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Will the Eagles land Marcus Mariota? | Filed in Eagles, Football, NFL

We are sitting one day away from the NFL Draft, and the Marcus Mariota talk is more fluent and intriguing as ever. There have been countless trade rumors, including a recent rumor that would trade away two young defensive players.

However, while the Eagles have been at the center of the rumors, they are far from the only team in the mix to land the former Oregon quarterback. Over the last few weeks there is a consensus around the NFL that teams are starting to become more sold on Mariota, and that he may be able to be a good quarterback in any offense, not just Chip Kelly’s.

Teams like the Chargers, Browns, Jets, and Redskins are all teams that have been rumored to land Mariota either via trade or if we would be there at their selection. Not included in that list is the team who holds the second pick in the draft, the Tennessee Titans, who could very easily put all the months of speculation to bed for good by taking the quarterback all for themselves.

What makes Tennessee so intriguing at that spot is we know that they like Marcus Mariota, but the question is do they like him more than Zach Mettenberger? After being drafted in the sixth round last year Mettenberger started six games for the Titans, however, he failed to win a game and threw for 8 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and 1,412 passing yards.

Another way to look at that question is, does Tennessee feel like keeping Mettenberger while gaining multiple assets in a trade is more valuable than Mariota?

Report: Latest Eagles rumor has team trading Cox, Kendricks, and Bradford

April 24th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Report: Latest Eagles rumor has team trading Cox, Kendricks, and Bradford | Filed in Eagles, Football, NFL

Over the last three months the Eagles have been involved in every possible rumor that involves trading up for Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. However, over the last week the rumors have really picked up, and the general consensus is starting to become that the Eagles have a real shot of actually getting a deal done to land the former Oregon Duck.

Which rumors, if any, are true is always something that is so hard to determine. Some can be completely fake, while others can be smokescreens leaked by teams on purpose, while others might actually have some legitimacy to them.

The latest Eagles rumor seems like one of those rumors that is a long shot, but it is obviously worth reporting.

According to NJ.com’s Mark Eckel, there is a new rumor making it’s rounds around NFL personnel meetings that involves the Eagles trading Sam Bradford, Mychal Kendricks, and Fletcher Cox. Here is what Eckel wrote in his story:

“One rumor, making its rounds in NFL personnel meetings, has the Eagles dealing Bradford to the Browns for the 19th overall pick. It’s been widely reported that the Browns offered that 19th pick to the St. Louis Rams for Bradford before the Rams traded him to the Eagles for Nick Foles and a 2016 second-round pick. Despite reports that Bradford, in the final year of his contract, would not sign an extension with Cleveland, the Browns are said to still have interest.

2015 NFL Draft: Who have the Eagles brought in for visits?

April 12th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on 2015 NFL Draft: Who have the Eagles brought in for visits? | Filed in Eagles, Football, General

Three weeks from now the 2015 NFL Draft will likely be in the books. Saying that is even crazy to think about at this point given the offseason we have seen unfold in Philadelphia over the last month or so, along with the hype of the draft.

Obviously the marquee name that has been on the minds fans everywhere around the NFL when the Philadelphia Eagles and NFL Draft are brought up is a certain quarterback out of the University of Oregon named Marcus Mariota.

There have been numerous reports and rumors listing every possible scenario that would link Chip with his former quarterback, however all of those reports and rumors are just pure possibilities and speculation.

With that being said, if the Eagles do not land Mariota draft night whether it is their decision or not, there will obviously be another first round pick that will be selected, along with seven other players (as of now) during that weekend.

Outside of the question mark at quarterback, the Eagles have glaring needs at both Safety and Wide Receiver going into the draft. They also need help on the offensive line, and still need to add play-makers at the cornerback position. So who has been on the Eagles radar so far leading up to the draft?

NFL Mock Draft

The first wave of insanity is in the books, as NFL Free Agency is well underway. With that said, we c!  The one time of year, where even the most ridiculous rumors, could seem plausible. As April draws closer, th th (2)e rumors will continue to fly like crazy. This years draft class isn’t necessarily the deepest, but it’s also far from the weakest. From offensive enigmas like Marcus Mariota, and Kevin White to defensive standouts such as Donte Fowler Jr, and Leonard Williams, this draft has its’ fair share of talent. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers  possess the 1st overall pick, and have officially been on the clock since the closing seconds of week 17. The burning question among “experts” is who will be selected with the No.1 pick. For the first time in a handful of years, there doesn’t seem to be a clear-cut, locked in selection for 1st overall. That fact alone should provide some interesting drama leading up to 8:00 PM on April 30th. Now that we’ve summed up the situation here, let’s move on to the “meat and potatoes” if you will.  This is my post-NFL Free Agency mock draft. Without any further hesitation, let’s get down to business.

#1- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jameis Winston (QB/Florida State)

There are a number of possible options here for Lovie Smith & Co, but I feel that the Bucs settle on selecting Winston, primarily due to their desperate need for a starting QB. Tampa Bay has gone through a carousel of QBs since Brad Johnson won the Lombardi Trophy back in 2002. QBs like Brian Griese, Josh Freeman, and Josh McCown have all led the Bucs to season after season of mediocrity. Winston has the athletic talent to instantly upgrade, but he also brings on his fair share of off-field baggage.  Tampa Bay’s willingness to accept that baggage, will play a major part in determining this selection.
