Not All Donovan’s Fault

I have seen Fran Tarkenton, Warren Moon, Dan Fouts, et al, miss open receivers in big games.  I also believe that none of the above have a Super Bowl ring.

The throw to Maclin should have been caught.  Terry Bradshaw laid his receivers out in a league that allowed corporal punishment and he is in the hall of fame.  I do blame Donovan for the fumble and the missed pass to Maclin.  I don’t blame him totally for the loss.

Can the defense get a pass rush?  Can Reid understand that this game is RIGIDLY timed?  Can Reid PLEASE continue to run the ball?  The first two plays went for 7 yards, and he gave up on the run because “the score dictated us to get back in the game”.  Yet, he said that at the mid way point we were only down 3 scores.

Donovan’s guilt is solely on his decision to run Reid’s offense and take no chances on his own. He is his coach’s quarterback.  He doesn’t want to make any waves, he wants to be what they want him to be.  This team is a reflection of Reid; they will take no chances against the good teams, they only lay everything on the line against the teams they know they can beat.

Why didn’t the defense blitz Romo? They took no chances against the Boys – they played vanilla.  That is Lurie, that is Banner, that is Reid and that is Mcnabb.  I cannot be the only one that sees this. THEY cannot win the big game – unless they play a team they are soooo much better than, that they feel comfortable enough to lay it on the line.
