Phils, Ruiz Stay Hot
May 11th, 2010 by Christian | 1 Comment | Filed in GeneralThe Good: The Phillies pounded out nine runs on twelve hits. Carlos Ruiz went 4 for 5 with a homerun. Shane Victorino had a pair of triples & a pair of walks, and Ross Gload hit a 3-run, pinch hit homer in the ninth to ice the game. Phils win, 9-5.
The Bad: Kyle Kendrick got whacked around again, giving up eight hits and four runs over six innings.
Commentary: Carlos Ruiz is batting .354 and continues to come up with clutch hits. He said Charlie Manuel has helped him calm his approach in pressure situations, “The last couple of years I was fighting myself. This year Charlie got me to relax and you see what has happened,” Ruiz said.

Reigning AL Cy Young winner, Cliff Lee (14-13, 3.22 ERA) takes the mound for the Phillies, vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (15-12, 3.47 ERA) for the Rockies.
Lee has faced the Rockies only once in his career, beating them 3-1 on Aug. 6. He allowed one run and six hits, striking out nine in seven innings.
Jimenez held the Phillies to one run in 6 1/3 innings in the clincher of the ’07 series, but is 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA in two regular-season starts against them.
