This last Friday the Philadelphia Soul played in the Conference Championship game against the Jacksonville Sharks, with the winner going to the ArenaBowl. I had the pleasure of going to the game courtesy of my friend Demetri Menegnos, the Soul’s sports medicine Doctor, and Deonna Kiera who is one of the fantastic SoulMates. The game had a good crowd which totaled 12,332 fans who were pumped up and ready for the American Conference Championship game.
The Soul finished the season as Eastern Division Champs with a 17-3 record and the Jacksonville Sharks with a 11-9 record. Let me just say the Soul came ready to play and made the Sharks look like they were an amateur team! By halftime the game was practically over with the Soul leading 45-12. I was thinking that maybe in the second half the game would tighten up a bit with such a huge lead but I was wrong. There was no mercy for the Sharks and the Soul had Shark steak for dinner with a 89-34 victory.
The fans couldn’t have been more happy as they watched their team win the ACC and head to ArenaBowl XXV in New Orleans. Larry Brackins had a franchise-record total of eight touchdowns. Brackins had a total of seven receptions for 72 yards and five touchdowns, three carries for seven yards and two touchdowns and three kick returns for 17 yards and a touchdown. Soul QB Dan Raudabaugh also had an outstanding game by connecting on 15-of-21 passes for 196 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. Other players to note having a big impact were Fabrizio Scaccio, Melik Brown, Derrick Ross, Donovan Morgan, Emery Sammons,
