I still love you, Cole.

I hate the title of this article, and I hate that it’s true.
The Phils are currently 7-11, with only Miami behind them in the NL East. Our pitching staff … well, it’s not what it used to be. For example, Roy Halladay is 2-2 with a 6.04 ERA. I’m not all that surprised by his numbers thus far, though, because he’s adjusting his velocity and command.
What does surprise me, however, is what we’ve seen from Hamels this month. While an 0-2 record doesn’t give much information, his 6.46 ERA does. With Halladay’s struggles, Lannan on the DL, and our bullpen giving me anxiety, we simply cannot afford to have Cole Hamels give up runs like he has. A month ago, I thought Cole would have been the most reliable pitcher in our rotation. Fingers crossed that his outings are sharp and clean from now on.
