Nick Foles joins the list of the most improbable players ever to win a Super Bowl as a starting quarterback, and he was named Super Bowl MVP, to boot. The discrepancy at QB between Foles and Tom Brady was part of the reason the Patriots entered the game favored by 4 1/2 points and were picked by almost all of SN’s experts to beat the Eagles. Then again, Philadelphia has played the underdog card well throughout the playoffs.

Nick Foles fired a shot down the right sideline for Alshon Jeffrey, who tipped the ball into the air … and into the hands of Duron Harmon at the New England 2-yard line. 6:55 p.m. — FIELD GOAL, Patriots: New England answered Philly’s lengthy opening drive with an impressive possession of its own … and wound up with the same result. Stephen Gostkowski made a 26-yard field goal after the Patriots’ nine-play drive stalled at the Eagles’ 8-yard line.
