Eagles (3-1) vs. Rams (1-2) Preview and Staff Predictions

October 5th, 2014 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Eagles (3-1) vs. Rams (1-2) Preview and Staff Predictions | Filed in Eagles, General, NFL

The Eagles are coming into this game with a record of 1-3.

No…Wait that’s not right!

They are really 3-1, but after last week’s disappointing loss against the San Francisco 49ers the city of Philadelphia has been for the most part in a state of worry and panic about the Eagles going forward. If you are one of those people I recommend reading this column before you finish the prediction piece. The Eagles lost 26-21 after the offense, which is the identity of the team, failed to score a single point. They were shut down in every aspect of the game, as the team is still trying to get through the horrific injuries they have suffered on the offensive line.

This week they will get one of their starters back. Lane Johnson is set to return from his four-game suspension, and will start at Right Tackle. The return of Johnson will allow Todd Herremans to return to his natural position of Right Guard. As of now the line from left-to-right looks like this:

Jason Peters, Matt Tobin, Dave Molk, Todd Herremans, Lane Johnson.

There is no question that there is a reason to be upset with how the offense has performed, not just last week, but all season long. The running game has been non-existent for at least two weeks to be generous, and Nick Foles has yet to get in a rhythm for consecutive weeks. A huge part of that is due to the offensive line being in the state that it is in, but it is just very frustrating to watch. Along with Foles and McCoy struggling, Riley Cooper who signed a five-year contract extension this summer has been under performing all season, including some very big dropped passes like the ball in the end zone last week that would have given the Eagles the lead.  Despite his struggles, Chip Kelly stated earlier this week that he still plans to keep rookie Jordan Matthews in the slot and leave Cooper outside along with Jeremy Maclin who has been nothing short of terrific this season.

Johnny G’s Week 15 NFL Picks

December 19th, 2009 by Johnny G | 14 Comments | Filed in Football, General

Money Picks

After a rough loss on Monday Night, the updated record now stands at 13-6.

Houston Texans (-14) over St. Louis Rams/ 1pm Sunday

How can It get any worse for the Rams? They lose starter Marc Bulger to a broken leg, they lose back up Kyle Boller to arm soreness, and are left with Craig Null to start last week. The former back up to Ryan Leaf was nothing short of awful last week against the Titans. To top things off, the swine flu made its way around the locker room, causing head coach Steve Spagnuolo to cancel practice on Thursday. One of the many players affected by the swine flu is Steven Jackson, the best player on the football team. Add that to his balky back that has been bothering him for several weeks and this spells disaster for the Rams.

Look for Matt Schaub and the Texans to jump out early, and score quite often. It is sad what the Rams organization has become to this point and it will only get worse this afternoon. Take Texans minus the points.

Johnny G’s Week 12 Picks

November 29th, 2009 by Johnny G | 2 Comments | Filed in General

After a tough loss on Thanksgiving with the Raiders, my record now stands at 8-2. This is a light football card, so there will only be two picks this week.

Miami Dolphins(-3.5) Over Buffalo Bills
Coming off an impressive Thursday night win over the Carolina Panthers, the Dolphins enter this game clicking on all cylinders. Chad Henne is effectively running a traditional offense and Ricky Williams looks like he did five years ago. The Bills come into this game in a state of turmoil after head coach Dick Jauron was fired and their new interim head coach has decided to yet again switch quarterbacks. The Bills will not be able to stop Williams on the ground and the Dolphins cover the 3.5 on the road. Roll with the fish.

Double Your Money Pick of The Week

Seattle Seahawks (-4) over St. Louis Rams
With Marc Bulger out of this contest and Steven Jackson currently listed as questionable, the Seahawks should not have much of a problem with this horrific Rams team. Matt Hasselback along with Julius Jones should be able to muster up enough offense to get the job done and with Kyle Boller now leading the Rams, they very well may get shutout. This is a pretty easy winner. Take the Seahawks laying four on the road.
