
The NFL league year is officially under way, and once again on the first day of free agency the Eagles wasted little time making moves. In addition to the trades and signings from earlier this week, the Eagles made three more signings today.
Safety Rodney McLeod, Guard Brandon Brooks, and Quarterback Chase Daniel are the newest members of the Eagles.
Rodney McLeod, 25, played the last three seasons with the St. Louis Rams. He started all 48 games and totaled 184 tackles, five interceptions, seven forced fumbles and six recovered fumbles.
Last season Pro Football Focus ranked McLeod as the 10th best safety in football. The Eagles will pair him with Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins, and could form one of the better safety tandems in the NFL, which is something that hasn’t been said for the Eagles in over a decade.
The Eagles pass defense ranked 28th last year, and it has been a unit the team has been looking to upgrade for a long time. As of now, Jenkins, McLeod, and the newly acquired Leodis McKelvin seem to put the Eagles on the right track to solidifying the weak spot of a defense with a above average front seven.
