Oh boy, here we go again!    Seven weeks after the first meeting between these two teams, and they meet yet again….practically in identical positions. The Birds will walk into AT&T Stadium on  Sunday Night, with a 3-4 record.  They will once again wage war, with the 2-5 Dallas Cowboys.   The Eagles are coming off of a bye week, in which they had to reflect on a demoralizing loss to the Carolina Panthers.  Meanwhile, the Cowboys are riding a two game losing streak, having dropped games to the Seahawks and Giants.

This game couldn’t be more pivotal for either team, as it will essentially eliminate one of these teams from the NFC East divisional race.  The ‘Boys have dropped four of their last five games against the Eagles in Arlington, and are current owners of a five-game losing streak.  The Eagles fourteenth-ranked defense will look to take advantage of the Tony Romo-less Cowboys, and make it six-straight losses for Dallas.

Eagles dominate Saints 39-17, improve to 2-3 on the season

October 12th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Eagles dominate Saints 39-17, improve to 2-3 on the season | Filed in Eagles, Football, NFL

Fletcher Cox records one of his three sacks against Drew Brees.

The Eagles needed a win. They needed to have their best game of the season to avoid falling to 1-4, a record that would have all but likely eliminated them from the playoffs.

The Eagles didn’t only win, they dominated the New Orleans Saints on Sunday to win 39-17, improving to 2-3 on the season.

After a slow start once again by the Eagles offense, including two interceptions in the end zone by Sam Bradford, the offense finally seemed to hit a rhythm and take off. Sam Bradford had arguably his best game as an Eagles, completing 32-45 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns.

Bradford bounced back from his two early interceptions by hitting Josh Huff, who had his best game in the NFL, for a 41 yard touchdown early in the 2nd quarter. He would also throw another touchdown to Brent Celek with 6:31 to go in the 3rd quarter to extend the Eagles lead to 23-10.

March 12th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Report: DeMarco Murray intends to sign with Eagles | Filed in Eagles, NFL

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, DeMarco Murray is flying to Philadelphia this morning with the intent to sign with the Eagles. Here is what Schefter said this morning:

“Pro-Bowl RB DeMarco Murray is flying to Philadelphia this morning with the expectation he will be an Eagle, per a league source.

Dallas has had numerous chances to resign Murray throughout the year and now.

Aside from the contract, the Eagles are most appealing to Murray because of his belief in their chance to win.”

However, there is still an outside chance that he goes back with the Cowboys according to Schefter:

Ryan Mathews signs three-year deal with Eagles

March 12th, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Ryan Mathews signs three-year deal with Eagles | Filed in Eagles, NFL

According to multiple reports, running back Ryan Mathews has signed with the Eagles, filling a major void in the offense. The contract is a three-year, $11.5 million deal with $5 million guaranteed, which was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Mathews has spent the previous five seasons as a member of the San Diego Chargers, totaling 4, 061 yards on 923 attempts. He also has the ability to be a pass catcher out of the backfield, totaling 146 receptions in his career. He also went to the Pro Bowl in 2011 after rushing for 1,091 yards and six touchdowns.

There is no question that Mathews has talent, however, his huge red flag is that he has been injury prone during his career. He has only played a full season once in his career (2013), and he missed 14 games in the past three seasons, including 10 last season due to an ankle injury.

If Mathews is healthy, the Eagles will have a solid running back group this season featuring Mathews along with Darren Sproles, Chris Polk, and possibly a draft pick in next months draft.
