(Updates at the bottom)

Coming off of an unbelievable no-hitter against the Chicago Cubs yesterday, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that trade talk would increase for Cole Hamels immediately after. It was reported on Friday that the Cubs had made the Phillies an offer that included Javier Baez and Starlin Castro.

According to FOXSports.com MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal, the market seems to be expanding for Hamels:

Deconstructing The Phillies: Starting Pitching

October 7th, 2014 by Mike H. | Comments Off on Deconstructing The Phillies: Starting Pitching | Filed in Baseball, Phillies

After yet another horrendously obvious season, the Phillies finally know that something needs to change. Whether they act on that knowledge is a different story. As we wait to see how the winter unfolds for the Phillies, I thought I’d post some of my own ideas of how to “fix” this team. Along the way, other contributors will throw in their two cents as well. In the first week we’ll address the starting pitching. So for some drastic ideas, read past the jump. (more…)

Phillies thinking about trading Cole Hamels…

July 13th, 2014 by Jesse Meza | Comments Off on Phillies thinking about trading Cole Hamels… | Filed in Baseball, General, Phillies

colehamels

Alright Phillies want to let go Cole Hamels I think it’s a bad thing. If let him go period I know how bad we are doing. But I believe we will get everything together we have to. When we trade him to any team we need to get 2 players because this pitcher right here is all star pitcher and that’s a fact. There are 9 teams that he could go to but I agree with 4 teams that he should go to.

The top teams I say he should go to is LA Dodgers, LA Angels, NY Yankees, Boston Redsoxs. Why do I choose them, because they are good franchises and it would probably make him happy.  But Philadelphia is the place to be, there is no other place like it.

Back Off New York!

Hamels in Spring Training

At Saturday’s spring traning game against the Yankees, Yanks fans were unusually friendly to Phillies lefty Cole Hamels.  Hamels said:

“Yankees fans were real nice for some odd reason, I don’t know why.”

This seems ironic for a fan base that derided him as Dorothy Hamels during the 2009 World Series.  It couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that Hamels  is scheduled to become a free agent after the season, could it?  Two words for Yankees fans: Cliff Lee.

Brian Cashman’s Mistress Turned Stalker

February 21st, 2012 by Johnny G | Comments Off on Brian Cashman’s Mistress Turned Stalker | Filed in Baseball, General

Brian Cashman has a little dilemma on his hands. His wife is now filing for divorce after Cashman’s former mistress attempted to extort money from him. The woman’s name is Louise Maxwell; she reportedly extorted $6,000 from Cashman and attempted to extort $15,000 more before the Yankee’s GM put a stop to it. That’s when the stalking began. She’s also accused of bombarding Cashman with phone calls and e-mails – and, sources said, with bogus claims that she was pregnant as a result of their 10-month affair. Cashman’s wife filed for divorce on Friday.

All in all, an absolutely bizarre story, but I can’t help but wonder; If you’re going to get mixed up in something like this, wouldn’t you go after a chick that looks decent? Good lord, this woman is a train wreck. Come on Brian, you’re the General Manager of the New York Yankees for god’s sake.

Stephen A. Smith Sells Out Philly

October 27th, 2009 by Christian | 5 Comments | Filed in Baseball, General

Sellout

I was watching The Ed Show the other night and Stephen A. Smith came on as a guest to give his views on the World Series. Smith, who worked as a sportswriter in Philadelphia from 1994 to 2007, picked the Yankees in six games. After bragging that he personally knows Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard, he made his most obnoxious and irrelevant quote about the Phillies, “They are not the New York Yankees!” he blustered.

You’re right Stephen, they’re not. The Phillies are the world champs. They took two of three from the Yankees this year, at Yankee Stadium by the way, and have been a powerhouse in the playoffs.

Hey Stephen, whichever national media outlet you’re working for at the moment won’t cut off your checks if you don’t pick the Yankees. But guess what, we don’t need you on our side. Philly gave you your break, and now we’ll break your heart. Phils in six.
