Howie Roseman is wasting zero time trying to correct the mistakes made by Chip Kelly a year ago.

The legal tampering period started at 12:00 pm, and already the Eagles are reportedly making big waves around the league. According to multiple reports, the Eagles are trading Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso to the Miami Dolphins for undisclosed draft picks.

The trade was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

Back in Black!    That’s right, Monday night’s divisional battle against the hated New York Giants will once again be a “Blackout”.   Last season, the Eagles opened up prime-time play against the Giants with a “Blackout”.   That game resulted in the Birds first shutout in 18 years.   The team out-gained the Giants by a rate of almost 2:1 in total yards.   They drove Eli Manning and Ryan Nassib to the turf, a combined 8 times.   Point blank, they completely and utterly dominated the game.   Now, I’m not saying this game will be a repeat of last season.  But, I truly believe that the black uniforms do something special to this team.  The Eagles are riding high, after coming off of a dominating win over the New Orleans Saints.

In that game, DeMarco Murray finally found his footing, tallying a total of 100+ yards from scrimmage and a touchdown.  The passing game really started to find its’ rythym, going for well over 300 yards.  The team should ride into this game, full of confidence and swagger.  On the other hand, so should the Giants.  They are the lone team atop the NFC East at 3-2, following a controversial come from behind win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.  Needless to say, this should be a good one.

Eagles suffer injuries to Alonso, Thornton, Kendricks

September 22nd, 2015 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on Eagles suffer injuries to Alonso, Thornton, Kendricks | Filed in Eagles, Football, NFL, Sports

After coming off one of the worst losses in recent history this past Sunday, it seemed like things couldn’t get much worse for the Eagles. However, the punches to the guts of Eagles fans keep on coming.

Mychal Kendricks, Cedric Thornton and Kiko Alonso, three key players of the Eagles front seven, are reportedly all hurt and could miss extended time.

Thornton reportedly broke his 4th metatarsal in his right hand during the Eagles 20-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday. The injury reportedly could keep the defensive end out for 2-3 weeks. With Thornton out the Eagles will most likely have Taylor Hart and Vinny Curry fill the void of Thornton.

Kendricks suffered a hamstring injury in the loss to Dallas on Sunday, which forced him to leave the game and never return. The injury doesn’t seem to be serious though, and Kendricks could play Sunday against the New York Jets, according to Howard Eskin:

LeSean McCoy has been traded.

Late Tuesday Evening, Chip Kelly once again stunned the NFL community. ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news that the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills have agreed to a deal exchanging RB LeSean McCoy for LB Kiko Alonso. Reaction immediately began pouring out. Some was good, some was well…not so good. But, this move makes it clear that Chip listens to no one’s opinion, except for his own. While the deal cannot officially be announced until the 2015 League Year rolls over, multiple sources including Jason La Canfora, and Ian Rappoport have confirmed the deal too.

On the surface, it may seem like Buffalo got a “steal” of a deal. However, once you dig into the details of the trade, you’ll see that it makes sense. LeSean McCoy was due for a $12 Million payday for the 2015 season. When approached about restructuring his deal, he refused. In regards to his 2014 performance, McCoy was sub par. Recording 1,319 yards and 5 TDs on 312 carries, McCoy didn’t produce enough to warrant his large salary.

Meanwhile, Alonso missed the entire 2014 season with a torn ACL. In his 2013 rookie campaign, Alonso recorded 159 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 4 interceptions. The 24-year-old phenom is no stranger to Coach Kelly, as he spent his collegiate years under Kelly’s supervision at Oregon. The 46th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft has earned the praise of numerous “experts”, because of his work ethic, intensity, and never say die attitude on plays.
