Eagles vs Jets

Oh man, we’re back on the grind again. Two weeks in, and two weeks the Eagles have been a disappointment. Nonetheless, here we are again on a Saturday afternoon, getting ready to cheer the Eagles to victory against the New York Jets. Contrary to public belief, we as
Philadelphia sports fans may bash our teams, but we’re always right there to bleed witdownload (1)h them til’ the end. This time is no different.

Chip Kelly’s Eagles have no identity. In the past, they’ve been known as either an offensive powder keg, or they’ve been considered a defensive juggernaut. This year, they’re nothing. It seems that only a mere two games into the season, Chip has lost the locker room. Players hear the criticism from the media, and the fact that Kelly has publicly stated that the players are the issue, thus far. That being said, it’s for obvious reasons that this is a must-win game. Since 1990, only three teams have begun the season 0-3, and went on to make the playoffs.

In twenty-four seasons, those are very minute odds. Very minute… So, without rambling on to much longer, let’s get right down to the reason why many of y’all are reading this article…..

Eagles!!

Dallas Week is upon us;  my fellow Eagle fans! Fresh off of a disappointing start to the season, the Birds must quickly focus on their hated division rival. Philadelphia opened up their season on Monday night, with a puzzling 26-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. When I say puzzling, I mean it was rather perplexing. The team just never really seemed, to get it going.

The offense came out flat, and never recovered, the defense over-pursued and got burned on many occasions. It just seemed like the entire team was totally out of sync. It was those reasons, that allowed the Falcons to escape the Georgia Dome with a two-point victory. Now, the team must put the loss out of their minds, and focus on the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys meanwhile, are coming off of an emotionally draining victory against the division-rival New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. In the midst of that victory, the ‘Boys lost their prized possession, and meal ticket in all-pro wide receiver Dez Bryant. Bryant was diagnosed with a broken foot during Sunday Night’s game, and was initially provided with a 4-6 week recovery period.

Over and out***UPDATE

March 5th, 2011 by Mike H. | Comments Off on Over and out***UPDATE | Filed in General

I guess Domonic Brown is learning to take the good with the bad. In today’s game, Brown FINALLY got his first hit of the spring. Normally, that would be great news because we all know hits come in bunches. However, Brown also managed to break the hamate bone in his hand, all but assuring Ben Francisco the starting job in right field and Brown starting the season playing for Ryne Sandberg. More as it develops.

***UPDATE***

Domonic Brown broke the hook of the hamate bone in his right hand. Surgery is likely and his current time frame puts him on the DL for roughly 3-6 weeks. The hamate bone consists of two parts; a hook and the body. It’s located under the gap between the knuckles for your ring finger and your pinky finger. The diagram to the right gives a better idea. Brown will be flying back to Philadelphia to see hand specialist Randall Culp. If it is in fact broken, Brown will require surgery and be out until the beginning of April at the earliest.
