TSP Eagles Analysis by 94 WIP

As I read this article by Eliot Shorr-Parks, I inquired to him earlier about comment and talk about the last Eagles game, Eliot never got back to TSP to answer, We do agree that Howard coming back will plug a huge whole in the Eagles lineup.  A strong runner is the key to opening up this whole Eagles offense, what there is left of it though. Lets keep our fingers crossed and TSP thanks Eliot and 94WIP for their contribution to this article, hopefully further collaboration happens in the future.  Another Game review will be released before game on Sunday against the Giants.  Happy Holidays to all!

What are the odds the Eagles will win SuperBowl 54

February 21st, 2019 by Leo | No Comments | Filed in Eagles, Football, General

The 2018-19 season ended on a sour note as the Eagles made their bid to win back to back SuperBowls.  Typically it is a hard feat to do with the added pressure and being the main target for every team wanting to beat the Champs.  With Carson Wentz falling to injury for the second season in a row, good ole St. Nick stepped in to get the Eagles into the playoffs, beating the Rams in the process.  The Eagles fans thought another miracle was in the making with a double doink win over the Bears in the wildcard, but St. Nick fell short in a fourth quarter comeback against the Saints with a pass through the hands of Alshon Jeffrey that became a interception. It was an exciting ride for a bit and one pass/drive away from the NFC Championship game.

Well, with last season behind us and the New England Patriots winning another SuperBowl, the question arises on what chance the Eagles have to win SuperBowl 54.  If you want to check out the Eagles stats and figures for last year and upcoming news check out the Philadelphia Eagles page on NFL.com.

According to one source, the Eagles have the best Super Bowl 54 odds in the NFC East at +1800, narrowly ahead of Dallas (+2000). If they can bolster the backfield in free agency, they should be even shorter by Week 1. Philly was ranked 27th in rushing efficiency by Football Outsiders and 28th in rushing by Pro Football Focus last year, even though PFF graded the O-line as the 5th-best run-blocking unit. Wendell Smallwood, Josh Adams, Corey Clement: all the RBs left meat on the bone, and the team never found a suitable replacement for Jay Ajayi. Le’Veon Bell would obviously come with huge off-field concerns, but putting his hyper-patient running style behind this offensive line would produce instant results. Lets see what the off-season brings.

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE EAGLES!! WHO ARE YOURS?

March 19th, 2012 by Philly Pressbox | Comments Off on MY ALL TIME FAVORITE EAGLES!! WHO ARE YOURS? | Filed in Eagles, Football, General, NFL

Who are your favorite Eagles?

Since we’ve been spending a good bit of time covering the Flyers and the 76ers as they head down the stretch in their respective regular seasons and we’ll be covering March Madness and doing a player-by-player analysis on the Phillies 25 man roster beginning very soon I thought we’d take a quick break and jump back to the E-A-G-L-E-S since they never move too far from the center of our thinking anyway.

Today I have picked my 12 favorite Eagles of all time. Obviously this is open for great debate. I’ve picked these guys for a number of reasons and some just because I liked them. It was actually tough to get down to just 12. Now as a clarification I never saw Steve Van Buren, Chuck Bednarik, Pete Pihos, Tommy McDonald, or Norm Van Rocklin, all Hall of Famers, that didn’t get included on my list. I do go back to 1965 or so when I saw my first Eagles game at Franklin Field. We’ll discuss that more later.

My list is not in any particular order after the first two guys and number one stands alone with no one close –BILL BERGEY. Bergey played in the NFL from 1969 – 1980. He was named to the AFL All Star team as a rookie with Cincinnati in 1969 and was named to 4 Pro Bowls with the Eagles. In my opinion Bergey is underrated and should be in the HOF. He didn’t get the credit he deserved because he played for lousy teams while good players like Jack Lambert received much more credit because he played for the “Steel Curtain” Steelers. Bergey was just as good. Bill Bergey was “The Baddest Man in the Valley”.

My second favorite is BRIAN DAWKINS. B-Dawk brought leadership with him everywhere he went. You could be sure of two things with Dawkins, he was going to come to play every week and he was going to hit you every time he got a chance. B-Dawk played for the Eagles from 1996-2008 which included 183 games, second only to David Akers. Including his time with Denver he has been to 9 Pro Bowls and was named NFL Man of the Year in 2008.
