Breaking: Eagles trade DeMarco Murray to Titans

In what has been a crazy day so far that has already featured Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso being sent to Miami, Howie Roseman wasn’t done there.

According to multiple reports, running back DeMarco Murray is being traded to the Tennessee Titans. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

Adam Schefter is also reporting that the return for the Eagles will include draft pick compensation, similar to the Maxwell/Alonso trade.

Murray was signed by the Eagles last year to a five-year, $40 million deal, however, the running back was not happy with his role in Chip Kelly’s offense or Philadelphia in general. In 2015 Murray ran for 702 yards on 193 carries, which was a vast drop off from his over 1,800 yard rushing performance in 2014.

This is now the second time in two years that the Eagles have traded their starting running back, trading LeSean McCoy last year.

In the trade the Eagles will save $4 million in cap space, but also absorb $4 million bringing the Eagles cap space to roughly $27 million this offseason.
