NFC Offensive Player of the Week

The Eagles’ controversial, yet talented wide receiver has been awarded and named the NFC Offensive Player of The Week, not Cowboys’ QB Tony Romo.

After a dynamite-like, explosive performance this past Sunday vs. the Giants in New York, in which he compiled 12 receptions for 132 receiving yards, and one touchdown. He was targeted, in total, 12 times on Sunday, and averaged a yards-per-catch average of 18.9, which included a game high 56 yard completion in the 2nd quarter to set up a 1-yard LeSean McCoy rushing touchdown. Jackson’s lone touchdown reception came in the 4th quarter, from backup Nick Foles, to put the Eagles up by two possessions, 36-21.

The weekly award for Jackson is the 5th time in his career that he’s received it, and 3rd time on offense (the other two were Special Teams Player of The Week Awards). Jackson is only the 3rd NFL player ever to have at least three offensive awards and two as well on special teams, alongside Santana Moss and Tim Brown. He previously won the award on offense in 2009, with Donovan McNabb as his QB, with a 2 reception-69 yard, 1 rush-67 yard, two touchdown (one receiving and one rushing) effort at Washington in October of the 2009 season. In the Eagles’ amazing comeback win vs. the Giants in December of 2010, Jackson not only won the game 38-31 on a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown as time expired, but he was subsequently awarded as well with the NFC Special Teams Player of The Week Award as well.

Jackson has shown himself to be this season more of a dynamic, versatile wide receiver, compared to/unlike year’s past where he was almost solely known as a deep threat.
