Beyond The Numbers: Jimmy Rollins

October 3rd, 2013 by Mike H. | Comments Off on Beyond The Numbers: Jimmy Rollins | Filed in Baseball, General, Phillies

Numbers don’t lie in baseball. Every debate can be won or lost on a varying degree of quantifiable and non-quantifiable stats. For years, the Phillies were a team that was only as successful as their leadoff man, Jimmy Rollins. As the Phillies, and Jimmy Rollins, end yet another sub-mediocre season, it made me wonder if Jimmy Rollins needs the Phillies more than they need him. His questionable demeanor on and off the field makes him anything less than what a leader should be. His overall production is borderline causing more of a hinderance than a catalyst. So let’s drill down Rollins’ numbers and see what we learn. (more…)

NBA Preview: Pacific Division

October 3rd, 2013 by Sam Shipley | Comments Off on NBA Preview: Pacific Division | Filed in Basketball, General, Sports

With NBA Training Camps starting up yesterday, we can officially say that the new season has started. There is no better feeling in the world that knowing that we are literally just 29 days from the regular season starting back up. This was a very busy summer for many NBA teams, we saw many popular faces go to new places: Dwight Howard to Houston, Andrew Bynum to Cleveland, Andre Iguodala to Golden State, Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans to the Pelicans, and many more. However, I am not going to look back on the summer. Instead I think it is time to move forward and look ahead to the season that awaits us. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be writing up division previews, breaking down every single team and predicting what their win/loss record will be. The first division I will start with is the Pacific Division, so lets get started.

Los Angeles Clippers: 59-23

Key Additions: J.J Redick, Jared Dudley, Darren Collison, Antwan Jamison, Doc Rivers (coach)

Notable Losses: Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler, Vinny Del Negro (coach)

NBA Betting: Who looks like a good bet for the coming season?

October 3rd, 2013 by Leo | Comments Off on NBA Betting: Who looks like a good bet for the coming season? | Filed in Basketball, General, Sports

The 2013/14 season of NBA basketball does not actually begin until the 29th of October, but those who don’t just love watching it, but also enjoy basketball betting, have been going to online and land-based bookmakers for weeks now to put bets on which team will win the Championship.  Obviously it is harder to predict this with any real degree of accuracy before any matches have been played, but placing outright bets early is a sports betting tradition. Therefore it is worth looking at some of the teams that could be a decent bet for the 2013/14 NBA title.

Most fans will not be surprised to learn that the bookies are favouring current title holders Miami Heat to win again next year, and it is possible to get odds as low as 2/1 on them for the title. Most of those who fancy a bet on the Heat – and they look strong again with players like LeBron – will probably prefer them at 9/4 though.  None of the sports betting sites expect it to be a walkover for the Heat though, as Oklahoma City Thunder, Brooklyn Nets, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls also have low odds (between 12-14/1).  This demonstrates why it could be smarter to wait and bet when the action starts and play casino games such as Slam Dunk at  in the meantime.

Slam Dunk, a slots game which features nine pay lines and five reels, is one of the many sporting themed slots at casino sites these days, but for basketball fans it is one of the best.  From the player, jersey, cheerleader and basketball reel icons to the basketball court backdrop, it is NBA all the way.  The jersey wild icon is numbered 23, which was Michael Jordan’s number, and as it boosts your odds of a payout by taking the place of other icons needed to provide winning reels, it’s as handy as Jordan himself.  Another great thing about Slam Dunk is that you can take it to NBA games and play nowadays, thanks to the apps available from mobile casino web pages.
