The initial results on Roy Oswalt’s ailing back show a bulging, not herniated, disc. Team doctor, Michael Ciccotti, has put Oswalt on the shelf for 3-5 weeks. Hopefully in four weeks time he will be re-evaluated and can begin a rehab assignment to put him on track for the beginning of August.
Oswalt will seek a second opinion from a Dallas based back specialist, but Oswalt has been told to expect a ruptured disc in the future. Best case scenario for Oswalt is the Phillies win it all and he can retire a champion. Start the “Win it for Roy” campaign.
