Lee in Masterful Form

Just kicking back watching Cliff Lee mow down the Cardinals, listening to Marshall Tucker Band’s ‘Can’t You See.’

Two great artists.  Warm summer night.  21 consecutive scoreless innings by Lee…  Enjoy Phillies fans, enjoy…

Who Hangs Up First?

Is Han-Ram wearing out his welcome?

I’ve had this in the back of my mind for a couple weeks now, but doubted that there was about a zero percent chance that it actually would happened. After reading an article out of The Palm Beach Post, I realize that the likelihood may have risen to about a five to ten percent chance of happening. Yes, I am talking about potentially trading for one Hanley Ramirez.

Ramirez, is having an awful year at the plate in 2011, to put it nicely. He is currently hitting a rediculously low .206 and has a embarrisingly low .302 on base percentage. He does however have 13 stolen bases is just 27 years old. So why would the Phillies want him? And more importantly, would the Marlins even want to trade him?

Should the Phillies resign the aging Rollins?

The first question is fairly simple to answer. The Phillies are going to have to make a serious decision about Jimmy Rollins and whether or not to resign him or let him walk. Rollins is in the downward phase of his career but there is the sentimental value of him being the longest tenured Phillie. Ramirez is in the final “affordable” year of his contract. In the final three years, Ramirez is set to be paid between 15-16 million per season. If the rumor of Rollins’ price being 3 years and 39 million, I’d rather go with the extra seven million or so over the same three years.
