For the Bruin faithful it has been 39 years since Lord Stanley has made its way across the trolleys of Boston for all to see. In Vancouver, pictures and descriptions of the Stanley Cup is all that the fans have been able to see. The Canucks entered the NHL in 1970 and have never had the honor of lifting the cup. This is the first time since 1990 that the Bruins have been in the final and the first time since 1994 that the Canucks have been in the finals. This is about as even of a final series as you could get. Both teams have top notch goaltending, offensive explosiveness, and most importantly a will to win that has guided both teams to the spot that is talked about when the season starts in October.

Offensively

The Canucks come into the series riding the hot streaks of the Sedin twins and Ryan Kesler. Daniel Sedin leads Vancouver with eight goals in the postseason, but it is his brother Henrik that has put himself in the race for the Conn Smythe trophy. It is Kesler however that is the perrenial favorite to win it if he has another good series. He has 18 total points in the playoffs including, 7 goals and 11 assists. Two of those goals were game winners. The front line that includes the Sedin twins is the key for the Canucks in this series. Kesler is having a fantastic playoffs, however the Sedin twins are the cog that makes the wheel turn, if their line struggles, they will have to wait to hold Lord Stanley.

Boston has been led in points by David Krejci and Nathan Horton, both have 17 points, Krejci has 10 goals to Horton’s 8. Tyler Seguin became the flavor of the week in the series against the Lightning. The key for the Bruins is to score in even strength situations because they only have five power play goals in this year’s tournament. Just for comparison, Daniel Sedin has five power play goals by himself in the playoffs so far. Playing with the advantage has not been friendly to the Bruins to say the least.
