Phillies sign Frandsen

The Phillies signed 28 year old Kevin Frandsen to a minor league contract. Frandsen will report to AAA Lehigh Valley. Frandsen is another super sub in the system. He can play all infield positions and the corner outfield positions. Between Frandsen, Orr, Barfield, and Young, the IronPigs probably have one of the most versatile teams in the minors. A deal between Frandsen and Arizona fell thru prior to signing with the Phillies.

Chase Utley spoke with reporters today before the final Grapefruit League game in Florida. He touched on his progress, saying that he is taking light grounders, but not running. On the most recent edition of Phillies focus, a graphic was shown displaying what the Phillies starters have done in their first outings of the season.

  • Roy Halladay: 13 GS 7-3 with a 3.41 ERA
  • Cliff Lee: 9 GS 2-2 with a 4.22 ERA
  • Roy Oswalt: 10 GS 4-4 with a 3.26 ERA
  • Cole Hamels: 5 GS 1-2 with a 3.14 ERA
  • Joe Blanton: 6 GS 1-1 with a 5.09 ERA

It’s interesting to note that Hamels has the worst winning percentage, but the best ERA in the group.
