The Phillies had scored only ten runs in Cole Hamels’ six previous starts. Last night, the offense finally supported their top lefty, exploding for ten runs in one game, beating Florida 10-6.
Hamels was sensational again, giving up just four hits over seven innings and striking out five. It was Cole’s third straight win, and he pushed his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 25.
Hamels (10-10) could easily have a much better record, if not for a lack of run support. The Phillies entered last night’s game having scored only 19 runs in Hamels’ last 11 starts, and they scored two or fewer runs in 13 of his first 28 starts.
