Nailbiter Loss Again!

Folks, this will be a very brief synopsis of the Flyers game yesterday, due to the fact I missed the game and I had important obligations in my Volleyball tournament at Venice Beach!

From what I have garnered maybe it is best I missed the game after Sunday’s tough and frustrating loss.

The Flyers MUST remain aggressive in their forechecking for 60 minutes! Not 40-50 minutes! No more injury excuses, Boston is a good team, not great!

And yes some may say the winning goal was soft, but as a Philly fan I will take a soft goal any playoff game!

Fellow native Philadelphian Larry “the Legend” Spagnola (now residing in fantastic LA like myself) who is my mentor and great friend, said it best. “The Flyers have NEVER led for one ^@!%*$! minute of this series.” He is correct and as I view it you can’t win a series playing catchup hockey! Protecting a lead generates a totally different style of hockey than catchup.
I fully anticipate the Flyers blitzing the Bruins in games 3 and 4 with home cooking. My prediction of Flyers in 6 has now changed to Flyers in 7. I can do that because I am writitng this article! LOL!

Cards Pull It Out Late

Blanton Sharp in Return

The Bad: With the game tied 1-1 , the Cardinals score five runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. The death blow was a bases loaded double by David Freese. The top four Phillies hitters (Victorino, Polanco, Utley and Howard) were a combined 2-14 with 6 strikeouts.

The Good: Joe Blanton is back. He looked sharp, keeping the ball down and going 6 1/3 innings. Brad Lidge pitched a scoreless ninth, striking out two. Jayson Werth (4) and Chase Utley (8) homered.

Commentary: With Blanton’s return to the rotation, and Lidge back in the bullpen, things should stailize for the Phillies, and I expect and big boost when Jimmy Rollins comes back.

Next Game: Tonight vs. Cardinals at The Bank
Game Time: 7:05 p.m. ET
Pitching Matchup: Cole Hamels (2-2, 5.28) vs. Adam Wainright (4-1, 2.13)
