Dallas Cowboys Vs. Oakland Raiders 4:15 pm on CBS

After taking the Titans on Monday Night Football (+4) and winning outright over the Texans, my record now stands at 8-1. I am giving out one selection for free on Thanksgiving and there will be 4 picks posted by Saturday for the games on Sunday. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your winnings.

In this game we have the Cowboys coming off an overall terrible performance by their offense against a struggling Washington Redskins team, where they needed a last minute touchdown to pull out a one point victory. On the other side, we have the Oakland Raiders coming off their biggest win of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Raiders came into that game as 10 point underdogs and were not given much of a chance to win the game with Jamarcus Russell being benched in favor of Bruce Gradkowski.

As I have stated several times in my weekly picks articles, this is not a bad Raiders football team. They have a very solid group of running backs, a good receiving tight end, and a well above average defense. The only thing holding this team back from competing each week was their quarterback, Jamarcus Russell. Now that he has been replaced by the much less talented Gradkowski, Oakland can manage football games and use the play action pass effectively, something that Russell struggled with mightily. As you saw on Sunday, the Raiders defense stifled the Bengals offense and only allowed 17 points in the game. They stopped the run and also had pressure on Carson Palmer the entire game.

At the end of the day this comes down to the odds makers giving too many points to a team who very well may win this game outright. After an impressive showing against the Bengals, I look for the Raiders to come out fired up on national television for the first time since Week 1 (they played the Chargers down to the final minute). You have Tony Romo who was injured during Sundays game but played through it ineffectively for the most part and is coming back on a very short week. With Gradkowski behind center to limit the turnovers, look for the Raiders to pound the ball on the ground and shut down the Cowboys on offense as they keep this game well within the number. Take the Raiders plus the points as your Thanksgiving Day pick.

i agree with your raiders pick. 14 points is a lot to give to anybody, especially a better Raiders team than everyone gives them credit for.
