Giants vs Eagles Sunday Night

Giants vs Eagles

Eagles need to get back to the basics and let LeSean McCoy run the ball more, throw some screen passes to keep Vick healthy, and get ball out of his hand quicker.  The offense can’t turn the ball over.  In the first three games the offense has turned the ball over 12 times.  We can’t afford to make those turnovers and give it to Giants, they have a potent offense led by Eli Manning who can hurt the Eagles.  Eli can also pass the 1,000 yards mark after Sunday’s game is over.

Hakeem Nicks won’t play Sunday because of a foot injury, but Ramses Barden is gonna take his place and he had 9 catches for 138 yards last week against the Panthers.  If we can’t contain Barden who is 6-6 or 6-7,  it maybe long day for our secondary.  Our defense needs to put pressure on Manning because if it were in Manning’s face all day, we could force him into bad decisions.  If we can do this to Manning and stop the Giants offense from scoring a lot of points, we have a chance to win the game.

With Maclin back we should be able to keep up with Giants offense in scoring points.  Michael Vick just has to be smart and not hold on to the ball for too long against this Giants defense.  Vick will take more unnecessary hits if he does and last but not least, our offensive linemen have to protect Vick better so that he can last the whole game.

Soul Promote Clint Dolezel to Head Coach

August 30th, 2012 by Robert Fetsick | Comments Off on Soul Promote Clint Dolezel to Head Coach | Filed in General, Soul, Sports

Chages within The Soul

With Doug Plank resigning as soul coach and becoming a grandpa, the soul were looking for a new coach and the rumors were making its rounds if they would bring back Bret Munsey.  Munsey won the Arena Bowl for the Soul in 2008, but they promoted assistant coach & offensive coordinator Clint Dolezel to be the Soul head coach for the 2013 season.  For the coaching staff so far I think Dolezel is gonna keep special team’s coach Adriel Fenton who was special teams coach last year when Dolezel was head coach for Dallas Vigilantes who folded this year.  I think Dolezel will bring in his buddy Will Pettis, who was Dolezel’s go to receiver when he was quarterback for Dallas Desperado’s before they became Vigilantes.

With Dolezel being back as the Soul’s head coach, it give’s the Soul the advantage to re-sign all the Dallas players that followed Dolezel to the Soul.  They include fullback Derrick Ross who had an monster year in AFL in rushing for 688 yards, and scoring 32 touchdowns, QB Dan Raudabaugh who had a quarterback rating of 120.60 & throwing for 4,790 yards, passing for 115 touchdowns, and threw 18 interceptions.  Wide receiver Tiger Jones, who’s with eagles now, had 2,010 yards receiving and caught 47 touchdowns before Eagles signed him.

Derrick Ross has been saying throughout the season how much he loves the fans, the organization, and the city.  My conversation with quarterback Dan Raudabaugh at recent Soul Summer Slam event last Saturday afternoon in Wild Wood, stating that he loves the fans and Soul organization, is very classy and in my opinion I think Ross and Raudabaugh will potentially return and re-sign with the Soul.

And finally, the offensive lineman who followed Dolezel to Philly were Greg Ryan, Zipp Duncan, and Christian Johnson who only gave up 5 sacks on the year with Devin Clark, and Brennen Carvahlo.  It’s gonna be hard to keep all these offensive lineman because everyone is a starter.  This is gonna turn out to be an interesting off-season.

Eagles 2012 Defense

August 2nd, 2012 by Robert Fetsick | Comments Off on Eagles 2012 Defense | Filed in Eagles, Football, General

Will the Defense be better in 2012?

The defense will surely be improved this year with the addition of Texans all pro linebacker Demeco Ryans, the drafting of defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and defensive end Vinny Curry.  In Cox’s final season at Mississippi State he amassed 56 tackles and 5 sacks.  In his career there he had 114 tackles, with 24.5 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks in 36 games (27 starts).  Vinny Curry finished his 4 year career at Marshall with 26 sacks, 49 tackles for a loss and 10 forced fumbles.  Now at defensive tackle the Eagles have Cox, Antonio Dixon and Cullen Jenkins. At defensive end we have Curry, Jason Babin, Trent Cole, Brandon Graham and Phillip Hunt.  The Eagles will  have a presence in both the inside defensive line and the outside defensive line, this will allow us to get pressure on quarterback.

The Eagles added Demeco Ryans to the linebackers core: Jamar Cheney, Moise Fokou, Akeem Jordan, Casey Matthews and drafted Mychal Kendrick. We have a strong linebackers corps now with the leadership of Ryan.  If Casey Matthews can improve our inside linebackers with Matthews and Ryan they could be very strong and productive.  With Ryan being the signal caller for the linebackers, the other guys should be able to learn from Ryan.  In my opinion the weakness with the linebackers is tackling.

Now onto the secondary: the safety is an issue and currently we have Nate Allen, and the addition of OJ Atogwe, Kurt Coleman (who did well last year) and Jaiqawn Jarrett who was decent.  Safety is our big issue and we need to emphasize improving our tackling and coverage in this area.

Our cornerback situation is stronger than the safety one. The Eagles have at cornerback: Joselio Hanson, who is good coverage guy, Brandon Boykins, who is going to be a kick return specialist, Dominic Rogers Cromartie and play maker Nnamdi Asomugha. I think our coverage will be better this year than last and we will tackle better with Asante Samuel being traded to Falcons.  That’s what Samuel’s two weaknesses were, and with Samuel gone, that gives more playing time to Hanson, Boykins and Cromartie.  Which I think will make our secondary better.  Samuel’s got burned way too much in critical times when we needed a stop.

Spokane Shock vs. Philadelphia Soul this Sunday

July 7th, 2012 by Robert Fetsick | Comments Off on Spokane Shock vs. Philadelphia Soul this Sunday | Filed in General, Soul, Sports

Go Soul!!

The Spokane Shock travel to Philadelphia this Sunday to play the Soul, the last time the Soul played the Shock was May 18 in Spokane and the Shock won 65-47.  The Soul look to win on Sunday to improve to 14-3 and already have the Eastern Division Title locked up. They also have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

QB Kyle Rowley for the Shock is having a fantastic year, his QB rating is 110.74, he has thrown for 3,459 yards, has 76 touchdowns and 19 interceptions on the year.  Two weeks ago the Shock beat San Jose Sabrecats 90-63 and Kyle Rowley had his best performance of the year going 30 for 37, passing for 388 yards and threw 12 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Their best wide receiver is Adron Tennell, who stands at 6 foot 5 and his statistics on season is 123 catches for 1,428 yards receiving and 29 touchdowns.  The Soul’s defensive lineman have to put pressure on Rowley and our defensive backs have to contain Tennell and there other wide receivers to have a chance to win the game.

Now for the Soul offense, our QB Dan Raudabaugh is having a fantastic season with his stats on the year being 312 for 466 in completions, he has passed for 4,085 yards,  with 94 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.  We have the best fullback in arena football and his name is Derrick Ross, with his statistics at 481 yards rushing and 27 touchdowns.  Our best wide receiver is Tiger Jones, his statistics on the year are 121 receptions, 1,807 yards receiving and 41 touchdowns.

I’m expecting a high scoring arena football game this Sunday night at Wells Fargo Center which has a 6:05pm start time.

Phillies Fire Sale coming?

July 3rd, 2012 by Robert Fetsick | Comments Off on Phillies Fire Sale coming? | Filed in Baseball, General, Phillies

Phillies Fire Sale!!

With Jim Thome being traded to the Orioles on Saturday, then Chad Qualls being traded to the Yankees, the Phillies are now engaging trading Cole Hamels.  With the Marlins sweeping us three games recently it almost seems impossible to make playoffs now.

I think trading Hamels wouldn’t be such a bad idea because of who we might get in the trade for him, being that he is a premiere player.  Then, if Phillies can’t re-sign Hamels in free agency to comeback, they would probably get two 1st round picks with the team that would sign Hamels because he will be a Type A Free Agent.  Could Shane Victorino be next too?  Yes,  there is good chance Victorino could be traded because right now he’s not doing good, but whoever trades for him he may get better because it could be a good change of scenery for Victorino. There would be a bunch of teams lined up to call the Phillies about Victorino, because earlier this season the Blue Jays and a bunch of other teams called the Phillies about Victorino.  In my opinion, if Victorino was traded then Juan Pierre would be our everyday center-fielder this year.
