Happy Sports New Years (Eagles vs Cowboys)

Well it is New Years Eve and time to ring in another new year.  No one believed the Eagles would be 14-2 with the best record in the NFL and clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs depending how far they go.  Of course the injury to Carson Wentz was a real blow, the Eagles still managed to pull out wins with the backup QB Nick Foles.  Yes, just like a few years ago Foles took a lot of criticism for his play and I for one am not one of those people.  I think the Eagles still have a shot in the Playoffs with Foles as QB.  He is a competitor, doesn’t turn the ball over much, can throw a nice ball, and holds his composure on the field.  Yes I know, he doesn’t always look pretty doing it but hey the Eagles have had worse QB’s.  If the D can step up and fill in the gaps the Eagles are still a tough team to beat and of course the old saying Defense wins Championships.

Today, we have our classic rivalry as the last game of the year in a cold climate facing the Dallas Cowboys.  I for one am picking the Eagles in a win with a close game 27-24, but my predictions are no better than anyone else’s and anything could happen.

Here is what some fans think when I asked what their predictions were and what should be the objective of the Eagles for this final game.

I guess the most important thing is to stay healthy, maybe the team will use the game as a way for the Eagles to jell together before the playoffs.  Technically the game doesn’t matter for the Eagles but no Eagles fan likes to lose to the Cowboys so it should be interesting the stance the Eagles take for the game.

We’ve been patient with only one of the major sports franchises winning a championship. We’ve been knowledgeable in regards to what has happened, is happening, and may very well could happen, but is the national view that Philadelphia is “one the nastiest sports town in America” true? I took some time recently to sit down and talk to fans of opposing sports teams and you may or may not be shocked with the reaction. (more…)
