This past Friday night, Florida State (2) opened a three-game series against Miami (14), and sent Luke Weaver to the mound.  While Weaver did suffer his first loss of the season, his numbers had improved since his last outing. Weaver went six innings, giving up three runs, with only one run earned. He set Miami down in order the first couple innings, seemed to struggle in the middle innings, before finishing his day with a 1-2-3 sixth.

At the end of the day, Weaver finished with seven strikeouts while allowing six hits and two walks. Now 2-1 on the season, Weaver has a solid 16:5 strikeout to walk ratio while averaging 5.2 innings per outing.  I’d like to see Weaver go deeper into games, but the errors and passed balls probably prevented him from getting into the seventh or further this time out.
