A Look at Ben Revere

Ben Revere joins the outfield in Philadelphia.

Winter Meetings have come and gone.  Phillies’ general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr., went to Nashville with an off-season list of things to accomplish.  It seems that he can check off “acquire a center fielder” from that list. The newest Phillie will be former Twins outfielder Ben Revere; we said goodbye to to right-handers Vance Worley and Trevor May.

So,who is Ben Revere?  The 24-year-old throws right, bats left, and it built like Shane Victorino.  He hit .294 in 124 games last season for Minnesota, stealing 40 bases.  It appears that he’ll fit into the clubhouse nicely; if anything, at least he’s young, unlike a certain Texas Ranger who is about to sign with Philadelphia.  It’s about time we started filling roster spots with players who were born after the 1970s (looking at you, Halladay, Lee, Valdes, Howard, Utley, Rollins, and Ruiz).

In my opinion, Revere has a lot of potential to grow with this team.  I’m optimistic about his career in Philadelphia.
