Prospect Watch: Brown, Aumont, Rodriguez

After just five rehab games in the Florida State League, Domonic Brown was bumped all the way to AAA Lehigh Valley. In his first game at the top level, Brown went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a strikeout. Tuesday morning is the last home game until the 12th, so I wonder if Brown sticks with the Iron Pigs for their tour of Ohio or if he moves to Lakewood or Reading.

Phillippe Aumont was perfect again. Aumont added another 1.1 perfect innings to his comeback tour dropping his ERA to a very respectable 2.25.  After 10 appearances, Aumont has 16 strikeouts in 12 innings. He has allowed the same number of walks and hits (4). If he continues pitching this well, he may warrant a September call up.

If you haven’t noticed, two Clearwater pitchers are have started the season off very well. And neither one is named Cosart or Colvin. Julio Rodriguez is 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA. He’s struck out 27 batters in 25l1 innings pitched. Sadly he allowed thirty baserunners, most of which are from issuing walks. Rodriguez has walked 13 of the 17 batters that have reached base.
