ESPN is reporting that Eagles QB Donovan McNabb has been traded to the Washington Redskins. Details have not been released, but the Eagles are believed to be receiving Washington’s second round pick in the 2010 NFL draft.
Thus begins the Kevin Kolb era in Philadelphia. Kolb, the Eagles’ second round pick three years ago has been the heir apparent, and will finally get his opportunity. Hallelujah!
McNabb achieved much success in Philadelphia, leading the Eagles to five NFC Championship games, and one Super Bowl appearance. The Eagles were 1-4 in those NFC title games, however, and lost the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots. These repeated failures in big games had left many Eagles fans, including me, extremely frustrated, and calling for McNabb to be replaced.
Now that we’ve gotten our wish, we’ll soon see if we were right. Personally I think Kevin Kolb will excel in this offense because of his accuracy and touch, and he’ll give the Eagles a better chance to win the Super Bowl.
