And The Eagles Pick….

April 27th, 2012 by Mike H. | No Comments | Filed in Eagles, Football

The Philadelphia Eagles traded up to the 12th pick  in the first round of the NFL draft by sending their 14th, 114th, and 172nd picks of the 2012 draft to the Seattle Seahawks. With that pick the Eagles selected defensive tackle Fletcher Cox out of Mississippi State. Cox was coveted by defensive line coach Jim Washburn. In his college career, Cox had 114 tackles, 24.5 of which were for a loss, but just 8.5 sacks. He does however have five career blocked kicks.

How High will the Eagles Fly??

Almost everything that is good in the world needs a little bit of work prior to the pay off. In the NFL, all the right ingredients are determined in a four game series that is the pre-season. Yesterday the Eagles released their pre-season schedule for the 2012 season:

  • Thursday, August 9, 2012: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (7:30)
  • Monday, August 20, 2012: at New England Patriots (8:00)
  • Friday, August 24, 2012: at Cleveland Browns (7:30)
  • Thursday, August 30, 2012: vs. New York Jets (TBD)

Donovan McNabb: “I’m the most criticized QB of all-time.”

March 30th, 2012 by Johnny G | No Comments | Filed in Eagles, Football, General

McNabb appeared on First Take with Skip Bayless today for the second day in a row. He is keeping with the same routine, though. D-Mac has become the most whiny, bitchy and embarrassing professional athlete I have ever witnessed. Constantly the victim, constantly being unfairly blamed, constantly not given the benefit of the doubt. I’m pretty tired of it. He’s absolutely clueless. Here’s the exchange with Bayless earlier today:

Bayless: Tim Tebow, once again, this points out to me, is the most unfairly, over-criticized quarterback in the history of this league.

McNabb: Negative– I am. I am.

Bayless: It is relentless on this network and every network.

McNabb: Nobody’s been criticized more than I have.

Michael Vick: “I don’t care, I’m one of the best”

March 30th, 2012 by Johnny G | No Comments | Filed in Eagles, Football, General

Michael Vick was asked about the reports that say the Eagles were interested in bringing Peyton Manning to Philadelphia. His response?

I really don’t care, I’m one of the best.

One of the best at what exactly, Michael?

How bad is the injury?

Reports are out saying Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters has ruptured his Achilles tendon. How does this affect the Eagles going forward? The injury will most likely end Peters’ 2012 season before it even starts. What ramifications will it have on the draft? Keep following Team TSP on Twitter and check back here as this develops.

Eagles Notes: Draft, McNabb, Samuel

March 28th, 2012 by Mike H. | No Comments | Filed in Eagles, Football

Eagles Notes

The draft is slowly sneaking up on us and lots of sites are getting their “mock” on. While I don’t intend to do full on predictions round by round for all the teams. I am interested in what the Eagles may or may not do. A lot of people have held their breath for the Eagles to acquire a competent middle line backer for what seems like an eternity, and the Eagles crossed that off their “to-do” list by trading for Texans LB DeMeco Ryans. Of all the recent mocks, the pick I’ve seen that resembles the Eagles draft ideology the most is Mississippi State DT Fletcher Cox. While it isn’t exactly a pressing need, Reid likes depth in the trenches and can be eased into the rotation.

While attending the owner’s meetings, Andy Reid was asked about the “turn for the worse” former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb’s career has taken.

I am surprised by the fact that he didn’t have, uh….um, the success leaving. I think that’s, uh…I’m not sure how all that worked, I wasn’t there. I still felt when he left he had two or three years of great football. It didn’t work out that way for him.

What? What in the heck does that all mean? Hey Andy, the fans told you long before you traded him that he sucked. The national media will skew it to look like McNabb is just passed his prime, but all along we knew he was horrible. Was it Mike Greenberg who warned us to be careful what we wished for about trading away McNabb? You’re right Greeny. It’s down right horrible here. NOT.

REPORT: Philadelphia Eagles Have Made Offer For Tim Tebow

March 21st, 2012 by Manayunk Mike | No Comments | Filed in Eagles, Football, General

If you would have told me a week ago that the Eagles had ANY chance to land Tim Tebow, I probably would have laughed in your face and told you that you were crazy. As a matter of fact, I think just a few days ago I was laughing at the idea, and even mentioned something about it on my Twitter. It’s funny how quickly things can change in sports.

Yesterday, I reported that there were a few teams interested in Tebow. While the teams have been changing almost every hour, and more teams enter the fold, the Eagles have quietly been a player in trade talks, and more information is beginning to leak out.

According to a source, the Eagles have offered a 5th round pick for Tim Tebow. The feeling around the league is that it will take a higher pick than a 5th rounder, and honestly, I can’t disagree. I would have assumed a few days ago that it would cost no less than a 2nd rounder. As of right now, that is the offer on the table, however, things could change very quickly. It has been said that Denver would like to take care of the Tebow issue “quickly and swiftly”.

Incarcerated Bob (@incarceratedbob) confirms what I was told, going on to say that the Eagles are reportedly “offering a 5th & next years 5th that could become as high as a 4th”. He also goes on to say that a few other teams have made some offers as well, and right now it sounds a lot like a bidding war.

I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated with anything I hear. It looks like Tebow will have a new team sooner rather than later, even if it isn’t the Philadelphia Eagles.
