If you would have told me a week ago that the Eagles had ANY chance to land Tim Tebow, I probably would have laughed in your face and told you that you were crazy. As a matter of fact, I think just a few days ago I was laughing at the idea, and even mentioned something about it on my Twitter. It’s funny how quickly things can change in sports.
Yesterday, I reported that there were a few teams interested in Tebow. While the teams have been changing almost every hour, and more teams enter the fold, the Eagles have quietly been a player in trade talks, and more information is beginning to leak out.
According to a source, the Eagles have offered a 5th round pick for Tim Tebow. The feeling around the league is that it will take a higher pick than a 5th rounder, and honestly, I can’t disagree. I would have assumed a few days ago that it would cost no less than a 2nd rounder. As of right now, that is the offer on the table, however, things could change very quickly. It has been said that Denver would like to take care of the Tebow issue “quickly and swiftly”.
Incarcerated Bob (@incarceratedbob) confirms what I was told, going on to say that the Eagles are reportedly “offering a 5th & next years 5th that could become as high as a 4th”. He also goes on to say that a few other teams have made some offers as well, and right now it sounds a lot like a bidding war.
I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated with anything I hear. It looks like Tebow will have a new team sooner rather than later, even if it isn’t the Philadelphia Eagles.
