Sixers CEO Attempts to Honor Whitney Houston; Family Says No

According to Sixers’ CEO Adam Aron’s Twitter account, the team attempted to honor Whitney Houston tonight by playing her world famous rendition of the national anthem before the prime time game against the Dallas Mavericks. The family has requested that the Sixers NOT play the anthem. It all seems very strange to me. Below is the CEO’s tweet:

Many have proposed that we play Whitney Houston’s national anthem as a tribute. We reached out to the family and they asked us NOT to do so.

Why the family would want to stop the Sixers from playing her version of the Star Spangled Banner is something I can’t really comprehend. Just the youtube video has been viewed millions of times. The video is below.
