The Flyers season is set to begin tonight with the home opener agains the Toronto Maple Leafs and looks to be an exciting one for the Flyers this year. Last night I went down to Ponzio’s Diner in Cherry Hill, NJ for the first ever Peter Laviolette show hosted by 97.5 the Fanatic. The show was taped from 6 to 7pm and featured Jason Myrtetus, Chris Therien, and Peter Laviolette.
They talked about a range of issues including the signing of Vincent Lecavalier, the new division realignment and schedule as well as taking calls from the listeners. The crowd for the show was good and many dressed in orange and black to show support. There was a greeting tent outside that handed out shirts, cup holders, posters, and other Flyers paraphernalia for the fans of the show and patrons of Ponzio’s diner.
During the commercial breaks for the show the fans got up to meet Peter for autographs and pictures. I got my chance for a picture and a brief chance to talk with Peter. I asked him about the upcoming season and he said “They are ready to play!”. Peter was very gracious with the fans as was the rest of the show’s staff. The next show is scheduled for October 22nd at Ponzio’s, so mark your calendars and go down to see the show!
