The deadline has come and gone on the ability for the St. Louis Cardinals to sign star slugger Albert Pujols to an extension. The Cardinals will have roughly two weeks of exclusive negotiability with Pujols after the World Series, but chances are all bets are off as Pujols will be looking to cash in. Pujols has already stated that he will actively using the veto power he has from his 10/5 rights to block any possible trades. More on where he could end up after the jump.

Florida trip


A quick update on the number one team in the Eastern Conference. After failing on multiple scoring chances at home to beat the LA Kings Sunday and falling 1-0, the Flyers rebounded with a playoff type game against the second best team in the East (arguably) in the Tampa Lightining last night in a shootout. Tonight the Flyers journey a little more South and to the East to play a so-so Panthers team. Only fatique should prevent the Flyers from a win tonight.

We’re just a few days away from full squad workouts, but key position players are already starting to arrive. We are just over a week away from Grapefruit League games. Comcast is going to be showing 8 of the 13 televised spring training games. ESPN will have two games and the remaining three will be on MyPHL 17. It’ll be nice to see the rotation getting there work in and the open competition for right field. Personally, I will be watching one pitcher very closely. Of the 5 starters, the one I am focusing on for a big year in 2011, had the best numbers in 2010 wearing the red pinstripes.
